Every day that is not a Wednesday in August, I will be offering something as a prompt for writing in honor of CampNaNo. For the second week, these will be inquiries into whatever you’re writing right now, taking a closer look at the characters.
It seems like the current fashion in character appearance is a striking combination. Everything must be over the top: raven locks, brilliant red stresses, striking green eyes (or silver or gold). Can an ordinary appearance still create an extraordinary character? Is there room for the girl with dark brown hair and muddy hazel eyes to win our hearts, or is unique the new normal? Tell us about what your main characters look like, and how that impacts your story (and whether it even does impact the story).
Your task is to write something–ANYTHING!–based on this prompt. Whether it is 100 words or a thousand, or even the inspiration for a new novel or story, all I want you to do is write. And if you do write, and are comfortable posting it online, please post to your own blog and link to the comments here or on Facebook, or you can post directly into the comments or on my wall!
